I miss my Friends. That is one of the funniest shows ever, in my opinion. I still catch a re-run every once in a while and just literally laugh out loud. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a truly funny comedy that doesn’t make fun of people or just make you feel dirty. Especially since I was around the same age as the ‘friends’ when they were on, I could really identify with their characters. They were just plain funny.
Making this week’s Tuesdays with Dorie selection from Beth of Supplicious (click for recipe), Chipster-Topped Brownies, made me think of this:
Vodpod videos no longer available.
With this recipe you would not only be known as the mom who makes the best chocolate chip cookies or the best brownies, but the best chocolate-chip-cookie-topped-brownies! For the times when you just can’t decide, cookie or brownie, or if you have one child who’s all chocolate all the time, and another who’s not, this is the recipe.
These brownies are seriously over-the-top and outrageously delicious, and guaranteed to impress kids and parents alike. I halved the recipe and baked it in an 8×8 pan. After hearing the other TWD bakers say they had some trouble with the brownies not getting baked completely, I decided to bake the brownie half for about 10 minutes, then I topped it with the cookie batter and baked for about another 40 minutes. This made the spreading easier, too, since the heat melted the cookie batter a little when I put it on top. They turned out fabulous.
One confession – I made the brownie batter in one bowl by microwaving (I know, gasp!) the butter and chocolate to melt it, then stirring in the sugar, then the eggs, then the vanilla and and salt, and lastly the flour. It worked like a charm.
Hello Friends writers, how ’bout a married with children version?
I totally remember that episode of Friends! I debated baking the brownie layer first, but ended up not doing it, sounds like it worked really well. Also nice to know that other bakers take little shortcuts, too.
Your brownie looks great! And you were able to cut it into a pretty piece too! Love the episode of Friends that you shared – soo funny!
Thanks for the laugh! I miss Friends too. Your brownie looks exactly how I imagined it’s supposed to look. Perfect! I’ll try baking the brownie first next time.
I remember that! I laughed out loud, again. I miss Friends, too.
Oh, Friends. Yes, Loved it. Watch the reruns and they are just as funny as they were when new.
Chipsters look perfect and glad yours came out easily for you.
