Sage Advice From An Eight-Year-Old & The Best Bloody Mary

The Best Bloody Mary

Let’s talk New Year’s resolutions.  I, personally, find it helpful to make them.  Usually by the end of the year I am sliding down the slippery slope of not-so-healthy eating, disorganization, and crazy stress from the holidays.  Resolutions help me get back on track.  I don’t make strict rules like “no sugar” or “loose 10 pounds” or “exercise every single day” because I just don’t have that much willpower.  My resolutions always start with TRY.

Just last night when my daughter asked me why she had to dry herself off after her shower, I started telling her all the things I still needed to do before bed.  “Don’t talk about it, Mommy.  It just makes you more tense.  Don’t talk about it, just do it” was her reply.  Such sage advice from an eight-year-old.  I did just what she said.

So, in addition to 1. TRY to keep things organized, 2. TRY to be on time (broke that one already yesterday), and 3. TRY to add more fruits and veggies to meals, I am adding 4. TRY to stress less.

And in the spirit of #3 and #4, here is my recipe for The Best Bloody Mary.  It’s pretty spicy, so just reduce the Tabasco and horseradish if you like.  Don’t talk about it, just do it.
