Oh, children and the things they will say. Like “My mom says you can’t come over ’cause you’re a bad influence” to a friend’s daughter. OH THE HORROR.
So after eating some crow, I barely had room for dessert. But I had made these Cran-Apple Crisps for Tuesdays with Dorie and I had to make room, and I’m glad I did.
These lovely crisps are made with fresh apples and fresh and dried cranberries. I used a mixture of Granny Smith and Honey Crisp (my new favorite) apples. The only change I made was to use walnuts in the crisp mixture instead of coconut, which I thought made a great substitution.
The sweet apples and tart cranberries were very tasty together in these crisps, and a scoop of ice cream added just a little more sweetness. I highly recommend it.

This Tuesdays with Dorie pick was brought to you by Em of The Repressed Pastry Chef and you can find the recipe there.

Walnuts sounds like a great substitution!
This looks so delicious – I wish I could make it but it’s not really portable so I can’t take it to work. Isn’t this month’s TWD selection fabulous!
The crisps look fantastic! I don’t think the coconut added much, so walnuts were a good call.
Your idea about walnuts makes me think of using pecans which I personally like a little better. Glad you enjoyed the crisp. Yours look terrific.
Hmmm…walnuts would be a great addition. I made the chestnut cake this week and this one sounds easier and tastier!
Kids are fun, yes? My Mom still reminds me to this day when I told her best friend about the secret baby shower Mom was preparing for her…which was to be on the very next day! I still recall the shocked look on my Mom’s face ~ and hoped to never see ‘that’ look again.
Your crisp looks absolutely delicious! I made the crisp earlier in the month and loved it too. A holiday must recipe =)
looks like a perfect dessert to me! Glad you had room!
Oh yeah, ice cream even makes crow taste good. And the crisp was pretty darn good too!!!!
Your crisp looks delicious! Especially with a little scoop of ice cream. Love the layout of your blog!
I can’t imagine how much crow you had to eat with your friend! Your cran-apple crisps look fabulous – I love the juice overflow too! =)
The crisps look wonderful and I’m sure they were MUCH more tasty than the crow you had to suffer through. Take care!
I’m swooning over your crisp and even though I’m trying to steer clear of too many sweets (diet. dun-dun-dun.) I think I’ll reward myself a bit today and make this, again. Yum.
I made these this week and they were fabulous!
